Our Beliefs
1. The Holy Scriptures
The Bible is the inspired word of God, written by men of God who spake as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost. (II Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13; II Peter 1:21)
2. The Virgin Birth, Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
a. Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God, sent by God the Father, to redeem the world by taking upon Himself man's nature, was born of a Virgin, so that the two natures, God and man, are found in one person, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
b. Jesus, being a second Adam, lived a holy life and died as a sacrifice for the sins of the world; to make reconciliation between God and man.
c. He arose the third day and took His spiritual and human body to God the Father to be perfected, then returned and was seen forty days after his death.
d. He ascended to sit at the right hand of God, the Father, awaiting God's appointed time to return for the rapture of His saints. (John 3:16; John 5:22-23; I Corinthians 15: 3-7; Hebrews 9:28)
3. Repentance
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and repentance is commanded of God for all, and necessary for forgiveness of sin. (Acts 2:38; Romans 3:23)
4. The New Birth
All must be born again according to John 3:5; and are thereby regenerated as in II Corinthians 5:17; and justified by faith in Christ, Romans 5:1.
5. Ordinances of the Church
a. Water Baptism by immersion is commanded in the scripture, as a type of death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. This rite is to be administered in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19)
b. We observe the Lord's Supper with unfermented wine and unleavened bread. (Matthew 26:26-28)
c. The washing of the saints feet is an act of humility and sign of fellowship. (John 13: 4-10)
6. Sanctification
Sanctification is an act of separation from a profane to a sacred use; to consecrate oneself wholly to God and His service. (Romans 12:1-1; II Corinthians 7:1; I Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12).
The Scriptures teach a life of "holiness without which no man shall see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14)
7. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost
a. All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:4) This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church.
b. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service. (Acts 1:8)
c. Such experiences are as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit of God. (John 7:37 -39; Acts 4:8)
d. The Gifts of the Spirit as recorded in I Corinthians 12:8-11, shall follow the receiving of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
8. The Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Ghost
The baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is witnessed by the initial, physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. (Acts 2:4; Act 10:44-46; Acts19:6)
9. Divine Healing
Divine healing is provided in the atonement, (Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24) with signs following referred to in Mark 16:17-18.
10. The Rapture
The coming of Christ to rapture His saints is ever imminent. "For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
11. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
We believe that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be when Jesus Christ comes to earth the second time to live and finish a special work of ridding the earth of all rebellion. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be after the judgment of Israel, known as the Great Tribulation period, and before the Millennium. (Matthew 25: 31-46; I Corinthians 11:25-27)
12. The Millennium
We believe that the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven, the salvation of the Nation, Israel, and the 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth, known as the Millennium, is the Biblical promise and the worlds hope. (II Thessalonians 1:7; Revelation 19:11-14; 20:1-17; and Romans 11:25-27)
13. Eternal Punishment for Sinners
There is an everlasting hell, a place of punishment for all humanity who reject Christ, and do despite to the spirit of grace, and have not repented. (Psalms 9:17; Mark 9:44-48; Revelation 21:8)
14. Finance
We believe bringing all the tithe into the storehouse is a command of God to be observed by all. According to the scripture, tithe should be used for the support of the active ministry and for the propagation of the Gospel and the work of the Lord in general. (I Corinthians 9:7-14; Malachi 3:10)
15. Worldliness
a. All members are forbidden to hold membership or have fellowship with any secret organization or social club, whether political or civic, where such things as dancing and drinking are a part of the entertainment. They shall be considered out of fellowship if they go to any place of entertainment calculated to destroy Christian influence. (Romans 12:2; II Corinthians 6:14-17; II Timothy 2: 9-10; Ephesians 5:11)
b. All members of the church are forbidden to dress in a manner unbecoming godliness. We are opposed to modern immodesty and extremity in dress, and wearing of jewelry. (I Timothy 2:9-10; I Peter 3 1-5).
c. We are opposed to the system of divorce in every case except where fornication is found to be present. (Matthew 5:32; 19:3-9)
d. We are opposed to any form of marriage or union except between a man and a woman as clearly taught in God's Holy word. We believe God ordained and honors holy union between the man and the woman. We also believe God rejects and condemns any form of same sex union. (Genesis 19: 4-5; Leviticus 20:13; Deuteronomy 23: 17; I Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; Isaiah 3: 9; I Corinthians 6: 9-10; I timothy 1:10; II Peter 2: 6; Jude 7; and Romans 1:26-27)
e. The Church of the Living God, Inc., forbids the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drug abuse in any form. (I Corinthians 3:16, 17; 6:19, 20; II Corinthians 7:1)
16. The Trinity
a. The Church of the Living God, Inc., gladly accepts the fact that the Bible emphatically and unequivocally teaches the union of three persons in the Godhead, correctly called in theology, The Trinity.
b. The three persons of the Godhead are: i. God The Father, ii. Jesus Christ, the Son, iii. and The Holy Ghost, the Comforter.
c. The Church of the Living God, Inc., believes that the confusion surrounding this doctrine is generated by people who either are ignorant of plain language, or are being used of evil spirits to sidetrack people from the clear teaching of the Bible. (I John 5: 7-8)
d. The Church of the Living God, Inc., further believes that Christian water baptism, to be scripturally administered, must be in the name of the Father the Son and of the Holy Ghost, as commanded by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20. |
